In the fall of 1982, a group of caring Christian adults From a diverse background began to pursue a Christian organization that could come in and share the gospel with the local high schools. These adults had never heard of Young Life. One of the adults, a school administrator was in Columbus at a prayer meeting and was introduced to the regional director of Young Life at that time. This was the beginning of the pursuit of Young Life in the Miami County area. In the fall of 1983 the area hired its first Young Life staff person. Young Life has been active in the area for 36 years and has touched the lives of many teens and their families.
Today, Young Life is active at Miami East High School, Piqua Junior High, Piqua High School, and Troy High School.
There were 75 students and leaders from the Upper Miami Valley that attended camp in summer of 2019. Many of these students had life changing weeks.
